It takes trillions of cells to build a human adult, and how those cells interact, connect, and arrange into tissues has a direct effect on our health. HuBMAP (the Human BioMolecular Atlas Program) is an NIH-funded initiative that will generate 3D tissue maps and construct an atlas of the function and relationships among cells in the human body. These maps and atlas can lead us to a better understanding of how the relationships among our cells affects our health.
HuBMAP is offering a paid summer research experience where undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds (see the NIH criteria) will be placed in HuBMAP labs across the country. The internship program provides a fantastic opportunity to learn an exciting new area of biology, build connections, gain valuable scientific skills, and conduct research in single cell biology.
Eligible students will:
- Be an undergraduate student attending a US institution at the time of application
- Be college undergraduates in the United States majoring in any of the STEM fields with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average
- Be 17 years of age or older
- Be a member of an underrepresented group (as defined by NIH). See the NIH criteria.
You can find more details about the opportunity and application process here: https://hubmapconsortium.org/internship-program/.
The participating labs and NIH staff are committed to ensuring the success of talented students through this initiative. Inquiries or requests for more information should be forwarded to internshipapply [at] hubmapconsortium.org (internshipapply[at]hubmapconsortium[dot]org).
Please note that the deadline for applications is February 1, 2024. Applications will open November 27, 2023.
